The durable Ovatec apron is designed to make the process portable for when you are taking readings from multiple animals. The operator can view the reading on the computer readout box by glancing downward, the box is located in the uppermost apron pocket. In the photo, you can see where the cable extrudes from the bottom of the box through an opening in the apron pocket.

Research into the physiology of reproduction in warm-blooded animals has clearly established that changes occur in the vaginal mucus and secretions of a normal female during the estrus cycle. This work has shown there are variations in both the electrical and chemical properties of the fluids as well as changes in texture and viscosity that occur just before ovulation.

The Ovatec probe technology makes it possible to detect changes in the electrolyte components of vaginal secretions and to translate this information, through a digital display, into numerical readings. By tracking the digital numbers, the Ovatec user is able to determine the ideal time for insemination, and even routinely settle animals that have proven difficult using other techniques to time breeding.

The Ovatec is the only product of it's kind with ten years of research at Truman State University, now published in the International peer review journal "Animal Reproduction Science" attesting to the effectiveness of the Ovatec in breeding specifically for female or male with 90% plus accuracy.
